Marriott International has officially announced plans to bring The Ritz-Carlton brand to Fiji for the first time, with a new luxury resort named The Ritz-Carlton Fiji, Namuka Bay, scheduled to open in 2030. This marks a significant milestone for Fiji’s luxury tourism sector as it introduces one of the world’s most prestigious hotel brands to the Coral Coast, a beloved destination on Fiji’s main island, Viti Levu.

The Ritz-Carlton Fiji will be constructed on a sprawling 28-hectare beachfront site, located just over an hour’s drive from Nadi International Airport. The resort will feature 249 keys in total, including 166 guest rooms and suites, most with ocean views, alongside 83 private villas. The villas will be designed with luxury amenities such as private plunge pools and open decks, with the highlight being a large 480 square meter Presidential Villa that offers a private 186-square-meter pool, a spacious balcony, and a yoga lounge.

The resort’s facilities will include seven diverse dining venues, presenting a range of culinary experiences to cater to discerning guests. Recreation options will be extensive, featuring two large swimming pools, a yoga studio, fitness center, tennis courts, and a dedicated Ritz Kids children’s recreation center. The Ritz-Carlton Spa will be a key highlight, comprising eight treatment rooms, sauna, plunge pools, and a full-service salon, emphasizing wellness and relaxation.

In addition to leisure amenities, The Ritz-Carlton Fiji will cater to events and conferences with over 1,320 square meters of meeting space. This includes a grand 590-square-meter ballroom, a junior ballroom, three additional meeting rooms, and a 40-seat chapel designed for weddings and intimate ceremonies.

“It is exciting to reach agreement to debut The Ritz-Carlton in one of the world’s most desirable destinations,” said Richard Crawford, Marriott’s Vice President of Hotel Development for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

“With Fiji experiencing strong growth in tourism and infrastructure, now is the perfect time to expand our luxury footprint.

Tristan Cooper, Director Development, Marriott International Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific said,

“As the largest resort operator in Fiji, we have historically focused on our elevated premium brands, such as Marriott, Sheraton, and Westin. However, to cater to even more discerning travellers, we are eager to secure footholds for our luxury portfolio, particularly The Ritz-Carlton. It is therefore exciting to have the chance to deliver on this objective, at a stunning beachfront location on the Coral Coast.”

“The Ritz-Carlton Fiji, Namuka Bay will be a truly world-class offering, delivering the legendary service the brand is known for and the very best resort facilities in the country. The timing couldn’t be better, with our current resort portfolio in Fiji enjoying record-high occupancy levels, and our nearly 245 million Marriott Bonvoy members seeking even more choices and luxury experiences,” Cooper added.

Currently, Marriott operates five properties in Fiji, including the Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, Sheraton Denarau Villas, Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, Sheraton Resort & Spa Tokoriki Island, and The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, with the latter slated to reopen in 2025 after redevelopment. The addition of The Ritz-Carlton will reinforce Marriott’s standing as the largest resort operator in Fiji and elevate the country’s luxury hospitality offerings.

Set amid pristine beaches and lush jungle backdrop, the resort’s design will blend The Ritz-Carlton’s signature contemporary elegance with Fijian cultural influences, making it not just a luxury destination but a celebration of local heritage.

This development is positioned to be a game changer for Fiji’s tourism industry by attracting high-net-worth visitors and supporting the government’s vision for quality, sustainable tourism growth. It will also bring extensive economic benefits to the local community through job creation, tourism spending, and increased international exposure.

The Ritz-Carlton Fiji, Namuka Bay, promises to be a world-class resort that delivers the brand’s legendary service, luxurious accommodation, and premier facilities within one of the South Pacific’s most treasured destinations, opening its doors in 2030.
